Hesham Elsharkawy, MD, MBA | Member of the CAB

Dr. Elsharkawy, MD, MBA, M.Sc. FASA is a member of the Clinical Advisory Board at Neuronoff, Inc.

Dr. Elsharkawy is Staff in Chronic Pain Management, Pain and Healing Center at the MetroHealth Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. He also has secondary appointments as Professor of Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. 

Dr. Elsharkawy is double board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine and in Anesthesiology. He has authored more than 100 publications and book chapters. 

He received his medical degree from Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria, Egypt, and completed two fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain, as well as at the University Hospitals of Cleveland in Pain Medicine. Furthermore, he holds a M.Sc. degree from Alexandria University in Anesthesiology. In addition to his medical education, Dr. Elsharkawy holds an MBA from Cleveland State University.

Known as an avid teacher to many clinicians in the field of pain medicine and ultrasound-guided access to central and peripheral structures, Dr. Elsharkawy has been the Meeting Chair for the Persistent Perioperative Pain Symposium, ASRA, and multiple educational activities.

Among the numerous awards Dr. Elsharkawy received are the Award for Excellence in Master’s Degree in Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Egypt in 2000; the Cleveland Clinic Innovator Award, New Technology for nerve catheters in 2012; and multiple recognitions by in the Cleveland Clinic annual reports for clinical innovations including fascial plane blocks and novel technique using ultrasonography to confirm location of epidural catheters. His academic contributions received multiple best-of-meeting recognition awards at clinical conferences.
