Dr. Patel is a member of the Clinical Advisory Board at Neuronoff, Inc.
Dr. Patel is most recognized for her expertise in Neuromodulation including spinal cord stimulation (SCS), dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS), and restorative neurostimulation. Dr. Patel teaches techniques in neuromodulation to other physicians and lectures on topics of neuromodulation at national and international clinical meetings. In a short time, Dr. Patel has gained national recognition for her many publications and contributions to the study and treatment of pain. Her steadfast dedication to furthering the field, particularly pain syndromes that are the most difficult to manage, has resulted in her appointment to national advisory committees.
Dr. Patel specializes in the treatment of back and neck pain caused by arthritis, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and pain following spine surgery. She also has expertise in treating neuropathic pain, cancer related pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), pelvic pain, headache, atypical facial pain, and peripheral neuralgias.
Dr. Patel completed her Anesthesiology residency and Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship at Columbia University. She also studied medical acupuncture at Harvard University. Dr. Patel is the Director of Pain at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and Program Director for Hofstra-Northwell’s ACGME Pain Medicine Fellowship. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine.
Dr. Patel received her Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She further holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biomedical / Medical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. She conducted her Internship in Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. She has been practicing Interventional Pain with a speciality in neuromodulation for over 12 years and is driven by a passion for physician/provider education, patient education as well as access to therapy and medical innovation.
Dr. Patel participates in clinical neuromodulation research with the goal of improving clinical practice and outcomes. She has published extensively in leading scientific journals and presented her work at premiere scientific meetings regarding her research in Dorsal Root Ganglion stimulation. Dr. Patel’s practice philosophy is to blend medical innovation, evidence-based medicine and compassion to meet each patient’s individual goals. She strives to improve functionality and allow patients to resume an active lifestyle.
