Shaher Ahmad is an innovative biomedical engineer, research and design expert, and product launch specialist with expertise in the full product development cycle. Shaher builds on his leadership roles in small and large medical device companies to cover a full range of expertise bringing medical device products from concept to commercialization.
In his 28 years of experience, Shaher has managed global teams in medical device R&D, operations, manufacturing and quality roles. Prior to joining Neuronoff, Shaher was an Independent Consultant/Principal of 4S MedDevice Consulting working with small Medical Device startups. Prior to that, he was VP of Eng for Capital Equipment at STERIS Infection Prevention Technologies. He joined STERIS after time at Stryker as the Director of R&D for the Interventional Spine unit and then as Sr. Director of the Surgical business unit at the Instruments Division. He was also V.P. of R&D for Zimmer Trauma. First 14 years of his career, he was at a small medical device company, OsteoMed, as a Project Engineer, Director of Operations, and finally as the VP of Product Development.
Shaher has developed expertise in markets and products in the CranioMaxilloFacial, Small Bone Orthopaedics, Large Bone Trauma, Interventional Spine, and Surgical Instrumentations sectors and is listed as an inventor on 10 US utility patents. Shaher has worked on and within standards and regulations related to medical device design controls ISO 13845 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820. His experience and keen focus on finding optimal balance between speed of execution and R&D innovation has allowed Shaher to drive innovation at the speed necessary for medical device startups without compromising quality. Shaher has a strong record of developing and implementing progressive strategic vision, building and managing teams, and engaging stakeholders leading to improved therapies at the speed demanded by customers and their patients.
Shaher is responsible for building strategy toward Neuronoff's NSR devices while coordinating documentation of manufacturing with R&D and QA. Work, with QA, towards ISO certification, recruiting, hiring, and training of additional QA and Mfg resources. Work with R&D on design control and test requirements in addition to continuing to build the company QMS. Shaher assists with: Design and Development, Risk Management, material selection, sterilization and packaging, suppliers' selection/relations, project management, design for manufacturability, verification and validation testing, design transfer, and internal and external audits.
Shaher received an EMBA from the University of Texas at Dallas and Biomedical Engineering, from Arizona State University.
